Free tax preparation – For individuals with an income of $84,000 or less sponsored by the Veterans Leadership Program (VLP) at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall. To schedule an appointment, call the Library at (412) 276-3456 and ask for a tax appointment. Appointments are Thursday mornings.
Through March 30th, Art.Love.Freedom – A Celebration of Ukrainian Art and Human Resilience, sponsored by the Ukrainian Cultural and Humanitarian Institute (UCHI) at the Third Street Gallery and Double Dog Gallery. The Carnegie Area Ministerial Association will once again host a Lenten Lunch and Prayer service every Wednesday during March at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church located at 601 Washington Ave. Join leaders of the our local Christian community for a prayer service at Noon with a free light lunch to follow. The Carnegie Area Ministerial Association (CAMA) will explore Lent through the Senses: Sight, Sound, Scent, Touch, and Taste. There is no service during Holy week.
Swim Lessons for children at Carlynton Jr/Sr High School pool sponsored by the Carlynton Aqua Club. The dates are March 24-28, 31, April 1-2 from 6:15 to 7PM (beginners, intermediate, and advanced lessons). The cost is $150 for eight lessons. Saturday, March 8th, from 1 to 2 PM, 2nd Saturday Civil War Series: Pennsylvania at the Battle of Stones River with Dan Masters. The Battle of Stones River, fought at the turning of the year from 1862-1863, was one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War. The Army of the Cumberland and Army of Tennessee clashed for control of middle Tennessee and in a see-saw battle that stretched over four days; the Federals emerged triumphant but by the narrowest of margins. Thursday, March 13th, at 7 to 8 PM, Heartprints: An Evening with Nataliia Sahaidak, at the ACFL&MH. Join Carnegie-based Ukrainian poet Nataliia Sahaidak as she shares selected readings from her newly published collection Heartprints. All are welcome to this free event!
March 14th and 15th, from 9 AM to 2 PM (snow date, March 16, from 1-3), Flea Market, at the Church of the Atonement, 618 Washington Ave. They will close on Sat. the 15th from NOON to 1:00 and reopen at 1:00 for their famous bag sale.
Some of the many items for sale: kitchen items, bedding, linens, clothing, headboard, sewing machine, mixer with many attachments, kerosene heater, decorations, luggage, plus more.

Saturday, March 22nd, from 11 AM to 1 PM, World Poetry Day, at the ACFL&MH. Join the staff at the Library as they recognize and honor the poetic traditions of the many countries and cultures represented among the diverse residents of Carnegie. Hear Carnegie residents read poems in Arabic, Ukrainian, Hindi, and more, including English translations of each poem. Saturday, March 29th, at 7:30 PM, Reggie Watkins – “Rivers” Album Release Concert, at the ACFL&MH. Carnegie resident and jazz artist Reggie Watkins will hold the official Album Release Concert for his new CD Rivers, on the Music Hall Stage. Reggie’s artistry will be on full display as the show promises to be a one-of-a-kind and memorable night of creative music. The show will feature the group from the CD, Reggie Watkins – trombone, Michael Bernabe – piano, Eli Naragon -bass and Jason Washington Jr. – drums, as well as some special guest performers. This play intertwines two mythical tales – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice and that of King Hades and his wife. It invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. April 11 at 4 PM and 12 at 4:30 PM, Our Battle Flags Were Tattered… The Maryland Campaign: A Civil War Symposium, The ACFL&MH is pleased to announce the return of our annual Civil War Symposium, the 2025 symposium will focus on the 1862 Maryland Campaign, which culminated at the Battle of Antietam, the single bloodiest day in American history. JFCS is excited to announce the upcoming cohort of our Immigrant Workforce Program, scheduled to begin on March 5th and conclude on April 24th. This virtual program will be conducted over Zoom on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM for 8 weeks. The program is jointly organized by JFCS Career Services and Literacy Pittsburgh
Our Immigrant Workforce Program is designed to equip immigrant job seekers with the essential tools and skills needed to thrive in the workforce. Participants will gain valuable knowledge and skills to enhance their employability.
To be eligible for the program, participants must:
- Be fully authorized to work in the USA
- Be able to read and understand English at an intermediate level
